The Hallym Experience
My Role at Hallym
As a Public Health Intern at the ICCON Office within Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital, I actively contributed to cutting-edge research on infectious diseases and public health preparedness. One of my key responsibilities was managing participant datasets and online survey systems for a national research project on long COVID-19 symptoms, funded by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC). Through data organization and analysis, I helped ensure the accuracy and integrity of research findings, which aimed to provide deeper insights into the long-term effects of the virus.
I also played a vital role in the second phase of the Integrated Infectious Disease Prediction Model project, assisting in data integration and research coordination to enhance South Korea’s ability to forecast and mitigate infectious disease outbreaks. In addition, I conducted a comparative analysis of global infectious disease prevention frameworks, identifying best practices from different countries and recommending strategies to strengthen South Korea’s public health preparedness.
Beyond research, I facilitated simultaneous Korean-English interpretation for Dr. Abdoul Kader Ilboudo, an infection control specialist and physician from Burkina Faso, during his two-month fellowship program in Korea. I provided real-time interpretation during meetings, hospital visits, and research discussions, ensuring seamless communication between Dr. Ilboudo and Korean medical professionals. Additionally, I served as an advisor, helping him navigate Korea’s healthcare landscape and research initiatives, fostering international collaboration in infectious disease control.
Through these experiences, I honed my skills in data management, cross-cultural communication, and infectious disease research, further solidifying my commitment to public health and global health policy.
